The present invention relates to a method and a terminal for performing D2D discovery and, more particularly, to a method and a terminal for performing D2D discovery, which compare the congestion level of an arbitrarily selected another discovery slot with a threshold value or with the congestion level of the current discovery slot, and determine a discovery slot for transmitting a discovery message and a transmission cycle of the discovery message based on a result of the comparison. According to the present invention, the method for performing D2D discovery utilizes discovery resources including a plurality of discovery slots, and comprises: a step of broadcasting a discovery message using a first discovery slot; a step of comparing the congestion level of an arbitrarily selected second discovery slot with an arbitrary congestion level; a step of determining a discovery slot for broadcasting the discovery message based on a result of the comparison; and a step of broadcasting the discovery message using the determined discovery slot.
