<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oily cosmetic with which hardness, viscosity or gel strength from low viscosity range to high viscosity range can be easily adjusted and which has excellent stability and use feeling while giving clear color without deteriorating intrinsic color of a pigment or the like. <P>SOLUTION: An oily cosmetic base contains: (A) N-acyl-L-glutamic acid dialkylamide; (B) an oil agent which dissolves 2 mass% of the component (A) generating a gel having a yield value of 0.5 N/cm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>at 20°C; and (C) (α-olefin/vinyl pyrrolidone)copolymer.
