<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique whereby a defoaming capacity can be improved while strength of a defoaming mechanism is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The defoaming mechanism is used to eliminate air bubbles from a liquid circulated in a liquid jet apparatus. The defoaming mechanism includes a defoaming chamber with a first wall of gas permeability for capturing the air bubbles in the liquid, and a decompressing chamber with a second wall of the gas permeability which contacts the defoaming chamber via the second wall and the first wall.
