PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for sidewall capable of improving mileage, flex cracking resistance, road-holding ability in good balance; and a pneumatic tire having a sidewall made from the same.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for sidewall includes rubber components and silica. The content of a conjugated diene polymer having a specified monomer unit and a terminal modified with a specified compound is 5 mass% or more relative to 100 mass% of the rubber components. The content of the silica is 5 to 150 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component.
