PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To activate various onboard control units at natural and appropriate timings by taking account of the driver's visibility, and, even if the visibility is degraded, implement control in advance at an appropriate timing according to a change in the visibility.SOLUTION: A control unit 5 estimates a driver's visibility Lv, calculates a visibility degradation rate dLv as a temporal variation of the visibility Lv, compares the visibility degradation rate dLv with an alert threshold CdLval designated in advance according to a vehicle speed V, decides whether an alert unit 11 should give the alert to a driver, compares the visibility degradation rate dLv with a control property change threshold CdLvc designated in advance according to the vehicle speed V, discriminates a change in each of the control properties of an ABS facility, anti-skidding control facility, and brake assist control facility respectively, compares the visibility degradation rate dLv with a deceleration control activation threshold CdLvb designated in advance according to the vehicle speed V, and decides whether automatic braking should be implemented. |
