<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face mask for filtering contaminants from the air that is suitable for medical applications.SOLUTION: A face mask 10 includes: an air-permeable body 12 having an inner surface, where the body is sized to cover the nose and mouth of a subject when worn by the subject; an inner seal 16 connected to the inner surface of the body, where the inner seal is sized to form a perimeter around a wearer's nostrils and mouth; at least one strap 14 for securing the face mask to the subject's face; and a deflector layer connected to the inner surface of the body, where the deflector redirects at least a portion of the exhaled air down into the lower regions of the body.</p> |
