<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform power saving control in accordance with the distance between an information processing apparatus and a person therearound.SOLUTION: An example of an information processing apparatus is an image forming apparatus. Upon detection of the presence of a person by a pyroelectric sensor, the image forming apparatus actuates an image capture unit to capture an approach detection range located in front of the own apparatus and starts image capture (S1, S2). The image forming apparatus detects a movement of the person on the basis of a captured image captured within the approach detection range and, upon detection of approach of the person to the own apparatus, shifts from a sleep mode to a standard mode (S3 to S5). Then, upon detection of absence of the person within a stay detection range, which is closer than the approach detection range and in which a person manipulating the own apparatus stays, because of a reason such as the person terminating an operation (S7; NO), the image forming apparatus starts to measure time using a timer and, after elapse of set time, shifts from the standard mode to the sleep mode (S8 to S11).</p> |
