According to the present invention, a method for transmitting a signal in broadcasting and communications systems comprises the steps of: dividing source data into one or more streams and encoding the one or more streams through an encoder, respectively; and selecting one or more symbols among encoded codeword symbols, mapping and modulating the one or more symbols on one signal constellation, and transmitting a modulated signal. The codeword symbols include at least one non-binary codeword. Multiplied finite field orders in which the codeword symbols are defined is the same as an order of the signal constellation.
