The present invention relates to a river bed protecting block that can be easily constructed on a river bed and increase an engaging force between the blocks to maximize the scouring prevention effect, and a construction method thereof. The river bed protecting block includes a rectangular body; a broken stones receiving part formed in the body and having opened upper and lower portions to receive broken stones; an engaging part formed on the surrounding surface of the body and communicating with the broken stones receiving part; and a protrusion protruding from the top surface of the body to reduce the velocity of a moving fluid. The construction method includes the steps of: organizing a river bed and laying a non-woven fabric thereon; placing blocks on the non-woven fabric and engaging the adjacent blocks by recessed portions formed on the surrounding surfaces; filling broken stones in broken stones receiving parts of the blocks. Since the recessed portions of the blocks are engaged to each other, the relative movements of the blocks are restricted to improve the engaging force. Due to the restricted movement between the blocks, it is possible to prevent the blocks from colliding with each other, thereby solving a problem in which the blocks are damaged. Therefore, the lifespan of the product is extended, and the maintenance costs are reduced. |
