The present invention discloses an apparatus for coding a 3D video and a method thereof. An apparatus for coding a 3D video according to the present invention includes an image input unit for receiving left and right images of one image; a first image frame generating unit for generating a single first image frame by crossing mutually adjacent pixels of the left and right images based on the left and right images; a second image frame generating unit for generating a single second image frame by rearranging and interpolating pixels of the left and right images in the generated first image frame to combine the left and right images with each other in a horizontal or vertical direction; and an image coding unit for coding the generated single second image frame.
