A fixation assembly 10 for securing parts of a sternum 78 is provided. The assembly comprises a flexible elongated member 12 and an attachment member 14. The flexible elongated member 12 includes a locking structure 16 configured to secure the flexible elongated member 12 in a loop around the sternum parts. The attachment member 14 has at least one opening 36 for receiving a bone fastener 70 and is coupled to the flexible elongated member 12.
