PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glass substrate for an information recording medium that reduces the elution amount of alkali metal ions in a manufacturing process as much as possible, which leads to uniform alkali cleaning resistance to acceptance cleaning.SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of a glass substrate for an information recording medium of the present invention includes the steps of: providing a glass substrate; causing the glass substrate to be subjected to chemical strengthening processing; precisely polishing the glass substrate having been subjected to the chemical strengthening processing; cleaning the precisely polished glass substrate; and inspecting the cleaned glass substrate. The cleaning step includes cleaning the precisely polished glass substrate under conditions of more than pH7 and pH11 or less. |
