Provided are a liquid crystal display and a backlight module (100) thereof. The backlight module (100) of the liquid crystal display comprises: an ambient light collector (110) used for collecting external ambient light; a back plate (130); a diffusion plate (120) disposed above the back plate (130); and multiple optical fibers (141). The optical fibers (141) are straightened and fixed between the diffusion plate (120) and the back plate (130). The optical fibers (141) are also connected to the ambient light collector (110). A microstructure (250) is formed on a surface of the optical fibers (141) straightened and fixed between the diffusion plate (120) and the back plate (130). The microstructure (250) enables light in the optical fibers (141) to be evenly emitted. According to the liquid crystal display and the backlight module (100) thereof, the microstructure (250) is formed on a surface of the optical fibers (141) to enable light emitted from the surface of the optical fibers (141) to be evenly distributed, the ambient light is effectively led in the backlight module (100) by the optical fibers (141), and that the backlight module (100) can obtain the evenly distributed light is ensured.
