PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of processing a signal that has been subjected to compression encoding by predetermined type of encoding applying quantization operation, and subsequently has been decoded.SOLUTION: A signal processing method includes the steps of: estimating quantization noise BQ introduced by compression encoding on the basis of information INF that is obtained transcendentally on the type of compression encoding and irrelevant to the characteristics of a signal; and determining a filtering function applied to a decoded signal on the basis of the estimated quantization noise to apply estimated quantization noise reduction processing to a decoded signal.
