PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refrigerator capable of accurately detecting stored articles in the refrigerator. ! SOLUTION: A refrigerator comprises: an inner chamber having a door that can be opened/closed; a cooling mechanism cooling the inner chamber; a light source unit irradiating an interior of the inner chamber with light; a photosensor unit that can detect the light radiated by the light source unit; and a control unit controlling the light source unit to irradiate the interior of the inner chamber with the light, and detecting an amount of stored articles in the inner chamber on the basis of light detection information detected by the photosensor unit.
