Process and appts. for microbiological generation of H2S using a specially designed culture vessel with subsequent utilisation of the H2S, in which H2S formed by anaerobic mixed cultures with the consumption of sulphur cpds. having an oxidn. number of = 0 and biomass is converted in an electrolytic cell with consumption of O2 as electron acceptor, and the resulting electron stream is utilised as an energy source.
