The chassis 1 of an invalid hoist is supported on a plurality of castors 2, and has a selectively operable fixed-axis support wheel 8 rotatably mounted on a support member 10 which is positioned on a side member 9 of the chassis 1. The support member 10 is spring loaded towards a raised inoperative position with the support wheel 8 clear of ground engagement. A Bowden cable 14 operatively couples the support member 10 to a hand- operated control lever 13 so that movement of the lever 13 acts to lower the support wheel 8 to an operative ground-engaging position, against the spring loading of the support member 10. <IMAGE> |
