This semiconductor device is provided with a gate pad, a first source pad and a second source pad that are insulated from each other, a drain pad, a main region, and a sensor region for detecting forward current and reverse current. The main region and the sensor region each contain a plurality of unit cells connected in parallel, with the number of unit cells in the sensor region being smaller than the number of unit cells in the main region. Source electrodes for the unit cells in the main region are connected to the first source pad, and source electrodes for the unit cells in the sensor region are connected to the second source pad.
