<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing structure of a drawing furnace for optical fiber which enables sealing clearances produced between the upper-end opening of the drawing furnace for optical fiber and the preform of the optical fiber by means of a simple structure and can cope with drawing of an optical fiber base material causing large variation of the diameter without spiking or disconnection. <P>SOLUTION: The sealing structure 20 includes a ring-shaped seal member 22 notched with two or more slits 22b on the inner periphery side and holding portions 21, 23 and 24 holding the seal member 22 in such an inclined state that the inner periphery side is more downward than the outer periphery side relative to the horizontal direction, and a clearance is sealed by bringing the tip part of the inner periphery side of the seal member 22 into contact with the side surface of the optical fiber preform 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
