<p>A broadcast system comprises: a portable video inspection unit 10, a server 48 and a first client device 52. The portable video unit comprises a first video camera connected to a video encoder, wherein the video encoder is a hardware encoder, and the unit is configured to route encoded video signals, and data, via a wide area network to the server. The server comprises a virtual private network router 46 hub, configured to maintain a virtual private network, and a video server; the video server comprises a hardware encoder configured to read the encoded video signals sent from the portable video unit and broadcast the video signals over the virtual private network. The first client device is connectable, via the wide area network, to the virtual private network and video server, and the client device displays video signals received from the video server. The client device is further configured to transmit data signals to and/or receives data signals from the portable video unit via the virtual private network. The portable video unit may be housed in a backpack for use in remote or difficult to access locations. The system allows user to remotely inspect a location by viewing live video.</p> |
