<p>Disclosed is an apparatus and method for detecting a surface defect of a steel plate. The apparatus for detecting a surface defect of a steel plate comprises: a magnetizing part generating a magnetic flux toward the thickness direction of the steel plate; a leaking magnetic flux measuring part measuring the strength of the magnetic flux leakage when the magnetic flux generated toward the thickness direction of the steel plate is passed through the steel plate; and a surface defect detecting part detecting the surface defect of the steel plate according to the measured strength of the magnetic flux leakage, whereby only the surface defect of the steel plate can be detected.</p> |
