<p>The present invention is related to a process and control method for the production of vermicular cast iron, which is performed in a treatment of two steps and with a magnesium alloy. First, the metal is poured into a treatment pot where a pre-treatment or conditioning process is performed with a magnesium alloy. Subsequent pre-treatment, a direct analysis is performed for knowing the percentage of oxygen that is present in the liquid metal by means of an electrochemical probe, also performing a thermal analysis to this liquid metal by means of conventional sample vessels with a single thermocouple in the inner portion thereof. This means that the amounts of magnesium and inoculant alloy required for obtaining vermicular cast iron will be calculated according to the results of the analysis, thus being added for promoting the formation of vermicular graphite.</p> |
