APPARATUS AND METHOD OF DETECTING HI-SPOT USING MULTIPLE THICKNESS PROFILE

Provided are an apparatus and method for detecting hi-spot of rolled steel using multiple thickness profiles. The apparatus includes a profile generating unit for generating a thickness profile of a width direction for the respective rolled steel to be sequentially transferred; an averaging unit for generating an average value on the generated thickness profiles of the width direction for the rolled steel; and a hi-spot detection unit for detecting a hi-spot generated on the surface of the rolled steel based on the generated average value. It is possible to accurately detect the hi-spot generated on the surface of the rolled steel, in spite of a temporary defect of the profile generating unit, such as laser.
