PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having low power consumption and excellent display quality, and to provide a driving method of the liquid crystal display device.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: a first substrate 100 including pixel electrodes PE arranged in a matrix state, a gate line GL extending along a row of the arrayed pixel electrodes PE, a source line SL extending along a column of the arrayed pixel electrodes PE, and a switching element SW arranged in the vicinity of a crossing position of the gate line GL and the source line SL; a second substrate 200 arranged opposing to the first substrate 100; a liquid crystal layer LQ held between the first substrate 100 and the second substrate 200; drivers GD, SD that drive the gate line GL and the source line SL; and a control circuit CTL which makes the drivers GD, SD switchable between a normal drive and an intermittent drive in which an idle period of the drivers GD, SD is provided, and which sets a polarity of a signal applied to the pixel electrodes PE arrayed in a column direction to the same polarity in each frame during the normal drive, and to inverted polarities every other row or every a plurality of rows in each frame during the intermittent drive. |
