PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damage detection method of a structure in which a number of sensors are installed in the structure and which is capable of detecting the presence/absence and degree of damage in the structure and estimating a position of the damage accurately and efficiently with reduction or the like in the number of cables, and a structure health monitoring system.SOLUTION: A vibration sensor 2 is installed in a junction 6 of structure members 5 of a structure 1, the junction 6 and a plurality of structure members 5 forming the junction 6 are divided as a partial structure 7, and an input/output relation of dynamic characteristics in each partial structure 7 is system-identified while defining detection information of the vibration sensor 2 installed in another junction to which another end of each structure member 5 is joined, as input and defining the vibration sensor 2 in the junction 6 as output. The temporally preceding and following systems of the partial structure 7 are compared, thereby detecting the presence/absence and degree of damage in the structure member 5 forming the partial structure 7. |
