PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that signal arrival cannot be received on a phone in audio incoming call in a case where a second session audio incoming call is used when a first session uses an SLIC or in audio incoming call through catch-phone service when the two sessions are fully used.SOLUTION: An image communication apparatus and its control method, which enable communication using voice via IP network and FAX communication using deemed voice, comprise: an SLIC that connects and controls a phone; a digital modem that controls FAX communication using deemed voice; and a selector that switches a signal from the IP network between the SLIC and the digital modem. At the time of signal arrival, a determination is made whether the signal arrival is for telephone call or digital data. If the signal arrival is determined as telephone call and there is a communication session that has already been connected, sound informing signal arrival during communication is superposed on voice during communication by the SLIC. When an instruction to switch to reception of the signal arrival on the phone, a new session due to the signal arrival is established. Also, by controlling the selector, the session of the telephone call that has already been connected is controlled so as to be connected to the digital modem and transmit a holding tone. |
