PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester film for optical use, which can be subjected to a roll-to-roll processing over the whole width of the film as produced without punching out the film, which has sufficiently high retardation, and which, as disposed outside a polarizing plate on a viewing side of a liquid crystal display, prevents darkening of a displayed image depending on a viewing angle or coloring by interference of light even when the displayed image is viewed through an optical member having a polarizing effect. ! SOLUTION: The polyester film for optical use is obliquely stretched in a direction of 30 to 60 degrees with respect to the TD direction of the film.
