The invention relates to a device (1) for rolling up and unwinding a leash (2), comprising a housing (16), a leash, a coil (3) within said housing and embodied for rolling up said leash around said coil, an opening (15) for guiding said leash in and out of said housing, a spring acting upon said coil for rolling up said leash by means of spring force and for unwinding said leash against said spring force. The device is characterized in that it further comprises: a retaining means (5) coupled to said leash within said housing that is adjustable between a leash coupling state and a disconnected state, and wherein the device comprises a catch means (6) near said opening for catching said retaining means when unwinding said leash. The invention also relates to a device for using a leash according to the invention. |
