PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a general opal wherein luminance is low on a convex surface side though it has a play-of-color effect when the general opal has a smooth surface, which is formed by bringing a water-repellent substrate into contact with a droplet including fine particles, and the convex surface formed into a dome shape by surface tension. SOLUTION: An opal is formed into a plate shape comprising two main planes consisting of a plurality of silica particles.
