PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for electric vehicle, which has a constant speed control method which performs constant speed operation at an extremely low speed of about 1 km/h and can offer a dynamic response also to variation of a load. SOLUTION: The controller for electric vehicle includes main motors 2-7 which are attached to axles and generate driving force for driving wheels, control units 89, 10, 11, 12, 13 which perform individual control of the main motors 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 attached to the respective axles, and a train supervisory control system 1 which performs proportional integration control of a target speed to a current speed, performs integration control by speed information common to the organization in the train supervisory control system, and performs proportional control by a speed sensor of each control unit.
