PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for processing gears that can achieve improvement of a surface roughness of a tooth surface (formation of plateau surface) by a simple structure and impart a desired residual compression stress to the tooth surface. SOLUTION: The device 1 for processing gears processes the tooth surface 21 of a gear 2 to be processed by rotating the gear 2 to be processed while the gear 2 to be processed is meshed with a processing gear 3. The device 1 for processing gears includes a convex-shaped projection 32 formed in a part on a simultaneous contact line 33 of a tooth surface 31 of the processing gear 3 with respect to the tooth surface 21 of the gear 2 to be processed. By the structure, when the tooth surface 31 of the processing gear 3 is meshed with the gear 2 to be processed, only the projection 32 on the simultaneous contact line 33 comes into contact with the tooth surface 21 of the gear 2 to be processed, therefore, a contact area between the processing gear 3 and the gear 2 to be processed is reduced and the contact pressure exerted therebetween is increased. Accordingly, part of the tooth surface 21 of the gear 2 to be processed, which is brought into contact with the projection 32, is plastically deformed by the contact pressure, thereby planarizing the surface roughness thereof and also imparting a compressed contact stress to the tooth surface 21.
