The procedure consists of co-laminating a polyester (PET) substrate (10) about 125 mcm thick with at least one covering layer or overlay of PVC (8, 9) about 80 mcm thick, with the formation of two intermediate layers (11, 12) - one on the substrate and the other on the covering layer - that provide an interface in the thermal welding of the layers. The substrate can be printed prior to co-lamination, which is carried out at a temperature of about 150 degrees C and a pressure of some 40 bars for a about 8 - 10 minutes, and can include a cooling phase under pressure. The card can be made to include a magnetic strip. |
