PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrochemical device separator, by which a dense electrochemical device separator superior in mechanical strength and paper surface strength can be manufactured without sacrificing ion permeability.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an electrochemical device separator arranged so that fiber webs formed from fiber slurry including fibrillated solvent-spun cellulose fibers and synthetic short fibers with a wet-type papermaking machine are put in contact with a heating body and dried thereby comprises the step of atomizing fibrillated natural cellulose fibers of 60-600 nm in average fiber diameter into drops of 200 μm or less in average particle diameter, and applying the atomized fibers to faces of the fiber webs formed on wires or felt pieces of the wet-type papermaking machine, at which the fiber webs are put in contact with the heating body, at a solid content of 0.01-0.50 g/mby spray coating.SELECTED DRAWING: None
