A clamping belt (6) for a pipe coupling (1) for the friction-locked connection of, in particular, smooth-end pipes (2) comprises mutually overlapping ends (6a, 6b), wherein the width of the two mutually overlapping ends (6a, 6b) of the clamping belt (6) together corresponds at most to the width of the clamping belt (6) in the longitudinal portion between these ends (6a, 6b), and at least one longitudinal slot (6d) extending in the longitudinal direction of the clamping belt (6) is also provided in the end of the clamping belt (6) that is passed through the longitudinal slot (6c) of the other end. A pipe coupling using this clamping belt (6) comprises a sealing element (3), if need be an anchoring element (4) surrounding this sealing element (3), said anchoring element comprising elements (4a) following one another in the circumferential direction. In this case, a recess (4e) is provided in the anchoring element (4) in each case in regions of the clamping screws (8), a longitudinal portion of the clamping screws (8) coming to lie at least partially in said recess. |
