a data storage device that comprises a first file system of a first type, wherein at least one file stored in the first file system comprises a second file system of a second, different type; and a file system controller for controlling file system operations performed on the file systems, the file system controller being configured to write data to the second file system in a power-fail-safe manner, wherein the file system controller is configured to issue a write command for the first file system in response to each closure of a file for storage in the second file system.
