A backlight device for a liquid crystal display, comprising: a first light source including a plurality of green, blue, and red light emitting diodes disposed on a single common substrate according to a first arrangement order along a first row direction, wherein the first arrangement order includes a first periodic repeating order of the green, blue, red, green, blue, and green light emitting diodes along the first row direction; a second light source including a plurality of white light emitting diodes disposed on the single common substrate according to a second arrangement order along a second row direction, wherein the first row direction is different from the second row direction; and a housing affixing the first and second light sources and concentrating light emitted from the first and second light sources, wherein the single common substrate is disposed at a rear of the housing, wherein the housing includes a bottom plate that is parallel with both of a light-guiding plate of the liquid crystal display and a reflecting plate of the liquid crystal display, and the light emitting diodes are formed on and in contact with the bottom plate, wherein a distance between a light-incidence surface of the light-guiding plate and the first light source including the plurality of green, blue and red light emitting diodes is longer than a distance between the light-incidence surface of the light-guiding plate and the second light source including the plurality of white light emitting diodes.
