A resin particle aggregate formed by aggregating a plurality of resin particles including a polymer of a vinyl monomer, the resin particle aggregate comprising: 100 parts by mass of the resin particles; and 1 to 5 parts by mass of a surfactant; the resin particles being cross-linked by a cross-linkable monomer in an amount of 9 to 50% by mass relative to the total mass of the resin particles, the resin particle aggregate containing an inorganic component in an amount of 0.5% by mass or less, the resin particles having a volume average particle diameter D1, particles contained in a dispersion liquid of the resin particle aggregate in water having a volume average particle diameter D2, the ratio of D2/D1 being 15 or less, the volume average particle diameter D2 being determined by mixing 0.50 g of the resin particle aggregate and 50 g of water, sonicating the mixture for 10 minutes with an ultrasonic disperser at an output power of 400 W and a frequency of 20 kHz to give a dispersion liquid, and then determining the volume average particle diameter of the particles contained in the dispersion liquid with a laser diffraction scattering particle size distribution analyzer by a method of calculating the volume average particle diameter of the particles with an optical model corresponding to a refractive index of the resin particles.
