An optical medium reproducing device which optically reproduces the data recorded on an optical medium having a plurality of tracks formed thereon, the optical medium reproducing device comprising: a detection unit which divides the cross-section of a beam returning from the optical medium into a plurality of regions and forms a detection signal for each of the plurality of regions; a multi-input adaptive equalizer which has a plurality of adaptive equalizer units into which respective detection signals from the plurality of regions are inputted and performs an operation on the outputs from the plurality of adaptive equalizer units for output as an equalized signal; a binarization unit which acquires binary data by applying a binarization process to the equalized signal; and an equalization error operation unit which calculates an equalization error from an equalization target signal acquired on the basis of binary data detection results from the binarization unit and the equalization signal outputted from the multi-input adaptive equalizer and supplies the equalization error to the adaptive equalizer units as a control signal for adaptive equalization.
