摘要 A lead battery of an electricity storage system, which utilizes a nickel-hydrogen battery or a lithium-ion battery in conjunction with the lead battery, is made small. This electricity storage system (100) is installed on a vehicle that includes a motor-generator (200), which can be switched between a power-running mode for functioning as a motor and a regeneration mode for functioning as a generator, and a starter (300) for starting an engine. A nickel-hydrogen battery or a lithium-ion battery is used as a main battery (10). A lead battery is used as a sub-battery (20) that can be connected in parallel to a first secondary battery. Once the ignition is turned on, management units (30, 40) supply electricity from the main battery (10) to the motor-generator (200) in order to start the engine when the temperature of the main battery (10) is higher than a preset temperature, or supply electricity from the sub-battery (20) to starter (300) in order to start the engine when the temperature of the main battery (10) is equal to or lower than the preset temperature.
