This head-up display (10) to be mounted on an automobile is equipped with a front-view information acquisition means (22, S110, S120), a virtual-image display means (22, S180), and a size adjustment means (22, S140-S160). The front-view information acquisition means obtains front-view information, that is, information indicating an object that is present on the road along which the automobile is traveling. The virtual-image display means causes light for displaying a target object marker representing a target object, that is, the object indicated by the front-view information, to be reflected off the windshield (6) so as to display the target object marker as a virtual image in front of the vehicle. If the position where the target object is present is ahead of the position where the target object marker is formed in the traveling direction of the automobile, the size adjustment means adjusts the size of the target object marker such that the length of the target object marker in the width direction of the automobile becomes at least equal to the length of a line segment that connects, along the width direction of the vehicle, two straight lines that respectively connect the right and left eyes of a driver with the target object, and longer than the length of the target object marker at the position where the virtual image is formed. |
