A wearable device for measuring a user's body dimensions com prises a support structure, an extendable member, means for detecting the elongation of the extendable member and a connection interface. That connection i nterface adapted to transmit a data element identifying the elongation of the extendable member to a processing system, the processing system being capable of associating the data element with a corresponding body measurement. The support structure and the extendable member are shaped in such a manner that, when the extendable member is i n a retracted configuration, they take the shape of a ring with an extension such that the wearable device can be worn on the user's wrist and/or waist. The extendable member is capable of being elongated in such a manner that the longitudinal extent of the extendable member is greater than the longitudinal extent of the support structure.
