<p>To improve the data quality of DDPIV measurements, colour is used to give multiple parameters (e.g. R-G-B intensity) instead of one (monochrome intensity) for correlation and particle tracking. This is achieved using laser induced fluorescence applied to tracer particles. These particles illuminated by laser light fluoresce in different colours allowing individual particles to be differentiated more easily. Applications of this technique to DDPIV and other PIV techniques are described. Further embodiments, combine with seeding ratio detection (seeding different phases of a multi-phase flow with different colours), and/or temperature detection (through seeding with thermo-liquid crystals).</p> |
