A snowmobile comprises a chassis with a front portion and a tunnel, and a power train unit supported by the chassis. The snowmobile further includes a plurality of ground-engaging members cooperating with the power train unit to operate the snowmobile. The plurality of ground-engaging members includes a pair of front skis and an endless track assembly.

a frame; a front suspension operably coupled to the frame; a first ski operably coupled to the front suspension; a second ski operably coupled to the front suspension; an engine supported by the frame; a clutch assembly rotatably coupled to the engine; and a low-inertia power train unit, including
a belt drive assembly operably coupled to the clutch assembly and including a belt, a first sprocket, and a second sprocket, the first sprocket rotatably coupled to the clutch assembly and the second sprocket operably coupled to the first sprocket;a jackshaft operably coupled to the clutch assembly at a first end and coupled to the first sprocket at a second end of the jackshaft; anda substantially hollow drive shaft having the second sprocket coupled to an end thereof, with the belt coupling the first and second sprockets.
