PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device and an image forming apparatus that can prevent damage to a scraper.SOLUTION: A developing device 34 includes a support mechanism 79 that supports a scraper 66. The support mechanism 79 supports the scraper 66 at a first position where the scraper 66 can be in contact with a detection surface 68 when a developing roller 61 is rotated in the regular rotation direction during development. Meanwhile, the support mechanism 79 lifts the scraper 66 in a direction separated from the detection surface 68 and supports at a second position where the scraper 66 is not in contact with the detection surface 68 when the developing roller 61 is rotated in a direction reverse to the regular rotation direction during non-development in which development is not performed. |
