PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agent for reducing intestinal harmful bacteria which exerts new effects that bring about reduction in intestinal pH, reduction in concentration of intestinal ammonia, reduction in concentration of intestinal putrefaction products, promotion of intestinal bifidobacterium production, and improvement in chapped skin.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for reducing genus Enterobacter bacteria or genus Clostridium bacteria by using ground product or extract of plants of the genus Salacia and flavonoid (note that medical practice is excluded). Flavonoid is at least one type selected from catechins and at least one type selected from polyphenols. Catechins are at least one type selected from catechin, epicatechin, gallocatechin, epigallocatechin, catechin gallate, epicatechin gallate, gallocatechin gallate and epigallocatechin gallate. Polyphenols are at least one type selected from a group consisting of ones derived from oolong tea, grape, apple, litchi, pine, and Cistanche tubulosa. |
