PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the mechanical opening/closing body stop device of an opening/closing device for mechanically stopping the closing movement of the opening/closing body when the opening/closing body during closing movement comes in contact with an obstacle.SOLUTION: When a shutter curtain 1 including a curtain main unit and a curtain sub-unit movable to the main unit comes in contact with an obstacle during closing movement, the curtain 1 and a string-like body constituted of roller chains 32 and 80 are connected by mechanical coupling means 71, and a driving device for driving the curtain 1 is controlled by a mechanical control device such that the closing movement of the curtain 1 is stopped due to a tensioning force acting on the chains 32 and 80. The mechanical coupling means 71 includes: a sprocket wheel 77 as a rotation member and a latchet wheel 79 as a rotation body connected via the chain 80 to each other; and a latchet member 81 as a movement member configured to move when the curtain 1 comes in contact with the obstacle, and to be engaged with the wheel 79 to inhibit the wheel 79 from rotating.
