This mobile-body detection device is provided with an oscillation circuit, a transmitter, a receiver, a phase detection unit, a mobile-body determination unit, and a control unit. The control unit periodically switches between a pausing mode for at least pausing the transmitter and the phase detection unit, and a detection mode for operating the transmitter and the phase detection unit. In the detection mode, the control unit determines the presence or absence of a Doppler signal outputted by the phase detection unit during a period lasting from a point in time which is reached after a prescribed waiting interval has elapsed since the starting time of the detection mode until the detection mode finishes. In addition, the control unit operates the mobile-body determination unit by continuing the detection mode when determined that a Doppler signal is present, and switches to the pause mode when determined that the Doppler signal is absent. |
