337,986. Berlinerblau, J. Nov. 22, 1928, [Convention date]. Bleaching, processes and materials for.-Jute fibre moistened with acid is treated with gaseous sulphur dioxide at normal pressure, the gas penetrating the material uniformly over its whole surface, to brighten its colour whilst retaining its natural tint and gloss. The fibre is saturated with a 2-3 per cent solution of hydrochloric or other acid and placed on loose frames, which are moved up and down in a closed tower provided at different levels with feeding devices for the sulphur dioxide. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the action of the sulphur dioxide takes place in the presence of free hydrogen ions. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
