PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode line for electric discharge machining, which is hard to cause breaks even if the tension of an electrode line is increased during electric discharge machining, and capable of improving machining speed as compared with electric discharge machining using a conventional electrode line for electric discharge machining. SOLUTION: The electrode line for electric machining includes rhenium of 0.1-2 mass%, and at least one kind of metal oxide selected from a group composed of lanthanum oxide, cerium oxide, and yttrium oxide of 0.1-1 mass%.
