Partially purified trinitroluene is further purified by melting it with a relatively small quantity of toluene and allowing the mass to set in a vessel such that the cooling takes place from the outside. When the mass has cooled down the central core of liquid is removed and the remaining trinitrotoluene is treated to free it from toluene. |
